The New York Times does a fantastic job of providing just the right detail in just the right way to keep me engaged and informed. Not seeing this same kind of effort from big TV, online or otherwise.

This whole idea of using the natural reactions of physical media to manipulate the digital is so fascinating.

If your RSS feed is well-highlighted (like, so a 6 year old could subscribe to it) and contains the right level of detail (unlike this blog), then your experience design should really focus on first-time visitors. Great blogs never require me to return.

I’m not normally in the habit of cleaning off my whiteboard right away, but since I’ve started using Russ’s window I feel it would be unneighborly of me to constantly leave it cluttered with my work. As I was erasing it this morning, I mused that a clean whiteboard, like a clean kitchen, is a sign of productivity. This doesn’t hold true for every kind of whiteboard usage, but generally the longer I leave junk up there, the longer before I actually digest and use the information. The idea should be to work out a problem, capture it and move on.

As powerful as SharePoint is, the MOSS user experience is pretty cough-cough-crappy-cough. The upside is, it provides plenty of opportunity to embrace constraints. I’ve identified a couple of small improvements for your next SharePoint implementation that will hopefully produce a more consistent experience for the people who will have to get to use it.

Nissan is using an "aging suit" to help designers consider limitations that make operating a vehicle difficult for older drivers. Hopefully, understanding the user's experience will translate directly into improved accessibility. Plus, as mentioned in the video, taking the time to review usability and accessibility challenges in your designs often benefits a much wider range of users than the group you may have initially targeted.
