Congrats to our UK sister-team for developing this Surface/Silverlight solution as an interface to FAST search technology . The application shown here is is live, not a hollywood-set demo. Each gesture interaction triggers a live query back to a FAST server in Boston.
We’re looking forward to more opportunities to work with Surface and Silverlight.

I’m not normally in the habit of cleaning off my whiteboard right away, but since I’ve started using Russ’s window I feel it would be unneighborly of me to constantly leave it cluttered with my work. As I was erasing it this morning, I mused that a clean whiteboard, like a clean kitchen, is a sign of productivity. This doesn’t hold true for every kind of whiteboard usage, but generally the longer I leave junk up there, the longer before I actually digest and use the information. The idea should be to work out a problem, capture it and move on.

This is too cool: a thin red “cable” sits above the road, in your peripheral vision, tracing the route to your destination. It shows you the path you need to take far ahead of you, even in the dark. What a great visualization idea!
