The Fine Art of Wireframes

As an Information Architect, I spend the majority of my day developing information flows, creating thoughtful ways to display content, and determining how to successfully communicate this design direction to clients. One of the most successful tools in my belt is sketching: the ability to cleanly hand-draw wireframes, widgets or even screen designs is an art form which is worth its weight in gold (or Euros).

IA as Civil Engineer

Luis Stole My Elephant Gun

I use Illustrator for everything, UX design, illustrated process flows, and of course, wireframes. It’s the last one on the list where I get the most flack from my colleagues. My associate Luis even had the gall to say, and I quote, “Using Illustrator for wireframes is like hunting flies with an elephant gun.” And you know, he might be right?

Teleporting IA

Currently, my favorite TV show is Heroes. One of the protagonists in the show is named Hiro Nakamura, and he has the super power of teleportation. It is amusing to see him use it, because he often ends up in places he never expected.
